Our Story
We grew from interest to business! In 2018, we began collecting natural plants from our village in Benue State, Nigeria, as part of our quest to consume more organic foods. The deeper we delved, the more we discovered the importance and benefits of the products we were harvesting from the wild. These wild-crafted products included turmeric, velvet beans, Afzelia africana seeds, and soursop leaves, to name a few. One year later, we registered Tropical Plants (Nig) Limited, with the goal of not only selling these products but also farming and exporting them to individuals and businesses who share our passion for natural plants. Along the way, we have added numerous other tropical plants to our product catalogue, helping businesses both at home and abroad gain unlimited access to natural products to grow their own agribusinesses. Today, this interest has given birth to the brand NOOTROPIC FOODS. What began as a curiosity in 2018 transformed into a formal business by 2019. Since then, we have expanded our scale and scope to include the sourcing, processing, and packaging of products such as Mucuna pruriens (velvet beans), turmeric, ginger, moringa leaves, baobab powder, and hibiscus flowers. We use the cleanest natural methods to ensure we meet the high standards of our buyers in North America and Europe. In a nutshell, we have transitioned from a small domestic agribusiness to a vibrant establishment doing business across all continents. We are proud to help international food stores meet their market demands. We hope to become one of the top food-exporting companies in West Africa in the coming years. We sincerely appreciate our customers for their constant patronage and look forward to our continued partnership.
About Us
Tropical Plants (Nig) Limited (RC 1603996) is an agricultural exporting company incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria. It was legally registered with the CAC in 2019 and has been licensed by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to export agricultural commodities.
Product certifications like Global GAP and Organic are crucial for successful international agricultural exports, yet many West African nations, including Nigeria, are still adapting to these standards. In Nigeria, organizations are partnering with international bodies to help local farmers and exporters comply. A key example is the partnership between France's ECOCERT Group and Nigeria's NICERT Limited, which provides consulting and third-party certification. Our company is actively working with NICERT to obtain certification, which will significantly enhance our products' marketability abroad. While awaiting formal certification, we continuously adhere to all agricultural and export standards set by Nigerian authorities (FMARD, NAQS, NPA, FAAN) and their international partners. It's important to note that all our products, including ethically sourced ones, are organic. For instance, Baobab trees grow wild in natural environments for centuries, making them perfectly organic. Similarly, our other products—like Moringa, Mucuna Pruriens (Velvet Beans), Turmeric, and Hibiscus Flowers—are naturally distributed, though with annual lifespans.
